N.A.S Drives

With the digital lives we lead where do we store all our photos, videos and music? Is it all on your computer? Or stored on an external hard drive for safe keeping?

These days many homes and small businesses have more than one computer and laptop. Well suppose you want to share files between computers in your household or office. Do you create a network and access each other’s machines for the files you require? Or do you install an expensive file server? No, install an N.A.S drive instead!

Why an N.A.S Drive?

Network Attached Storage is a far cheaper option than a file server. There is virtually no maintenance, no operating system to update and maintain and less electricity is consumed.

You can store files and documents you wish to share in one central place for people to access. This would mean that a computer or laptop doesn’t have to be left on just so the files on those machines can be shared. This will be a more efficient and economical way of running your network, as most drives has an interface which allows you to apply user permissions for different folders.

How easy are they to install?

N-A.S drives are easy to install. As most broadband routers have four or more Ethernet ports, just plug the N.A.S drive into a spare Ethernet port. All drives come with instructions on how to install and set up initially. All you would have to do is decide what to store on the drive.

Some N.A.S boxes come with a hard drive included. But if you already have a spare drive you wish to utilise, all the better.

N.A.S start at £49.99 (No drive installed).

Welcome

Welcome to my first blog.

Besides offering computer repairs and upgrades I also do PC Health Checks.

Some people may need their computers looked at. So as not everyone I know lives in Essex it would be a great idea if people combined getting their PC fixed with a short break here in sunny Maldon.

There are plenty of delightful B & B's nearby and there is lots to do here. Besides the wonderful countryside to enjoy there is the Promenade Park and the local shops in the High Street. The Pubs serve great bar meals and some do evening entertainment with live bands etc.

There are coastal resorts such as Clacton and Walton On The Naze within driving distance. The zoo is also at nearby Colchester.

If you like the idea of combining a short break with getting your computer fixed, then give me a call on 0845 582 4818 to find out more.
